does this replace EN-EL15 null

The EN-EL15b Rechargeable Li-ion Battery is compatible on any Nikon DSLR body that uses an EN-EL15 Rechargeable Li-ion type of battery. The EN-EL15b can be charged with the MH-25a battery charger.

EN-EL15 and EN-EL15b both have the same 1900mAh rating and size. I believe the EN-EL15b is the newer model of EN-EL15, but I am not sure whether Nikon discontinued the EN-EL15 model. They both look the same except the color (black vs grey). I am using both batteries in my D7200 without any problem whatsoever.

My understanding is that the B replaces all previous and adds compatibility with the Z models. Mine had an A and my new battery is a B and works fine.

Yes it does, must be the updated model. I wondered the same thing and went ahead a got it to go in the battery grip for my D500. Works as normal, good battery life.
