“Will this remote work properly outdoors in the sun? And, do you need to have the remote pointed directly at the camera? I know IT sometimes has trouble in bright sunlight.”

The Nikon ML-L3 can be used in a variety of lighting conditions up to a distance of 5 meters (16 feet) from the camera. To release the camera shutter the ML-L3 needs to be directly facing the infrared receiver on the camera when you press the remote button down.
