No, the Nikon ML-L3 Wireless Remote is not a compatible wireless remote for the Nikon D800E DSLR camera. Instead, use either the Nikon UT-1 Communication Unit with WT-5A Wireless Transmitter combination or the WT-4A Wireless Transmitter. The UT-1 Communication Unit with WT-5A Wireless Transmitter combination will allow you to either transmit images and movies to a host (computer or FTP server) from the camera or transfer images to a computer from the camera directly, while the Nikon WT-4A Wireless Transmitter allows WiFi remote operation (with optional Camera Control 2 software) and image transfer (with FTP software) or wired Ethernet connection.
