The FTZ2 doesn’t have the hump on the bottom. Functionally, they’re identical.

The FTZ has a tripod mount if you want to use longer heaver lens. other wise they are the same.

They work the same only different is the v1 has a 1/4 “ tripod adapter and the v2 doesn’t they Madi it especially for the z9 bey the v1 can be use with that camera for the space

The newer FTZ II Adapter is not as deep. Plus it has had the the camera mount screw hole removed. I think there original reason for that screw hole was for the larger heavier lenses. But those lenses have a mount hole on them to offset the weight. So Nikon probably thought it was better to remove that screw hole on the adapter in favor of a sleeker design, I agree. I have had no issue with this new adapter. The adapter seems to allow me to use lenses that in the past I had put away since they did not work well on my D4. All in all nikon was good to use in this design.

It was recommended by camera store.  I see it is a weight drained,  slimmer version.   Works great with Nikon AF-S Nikkor 200-500mm f/5.6 ED VR lens.

The FTZII doesn’t have the tripod mount and is a bit lighter.

The original FTZ adapter has a rectangular block on the bottom for mounting to a tripod. That block is in the way of using the mount on the bottom of the camera. The FTZ II does not have this block in the way.

So far what I found out is that the only difference is that the first version has the tripod mount and the new one doesn’t because the protruding mount piece will not fit well on the Nikon z9
