The upside is the glass window allows you to see it "brown" so you can stop of extended cook time to adjust to your personal preference. Once you learn that, you can set it and forget it.

Yes. It does light, medium, and dark toast. You must buy the model #701. The 700 model does not have many of the #701 functions.
