Does the top of the oven get hot? null

The short answer is yes. I have a cabinet that sits just above the oven at about 2 inches and that cabinet doesn't get hot at all. You can put your hand on top of the oven for a few seconds before it becomes uncomfortable. You should keep the top, back, and sides clear by 1 inch at least. I do however keep my dehydration racks on top and it acts as a heat sink.

Although the outside of the unit and glass window will heat up during the cooking process, you may touch the control panel and door handle at all times.
