“Why does the float valve release steam and not allow the pressure to build up in the cooker?”

• You want to make sure the valve is in the closed position after starting. it will release steam for a min. or so as pressure is building up but should pop up after that. if not it is dirty and needs to be washed. there are cleaning videos on YouTube that show you how to clean it properly. pressure lid is one part that cannot go in dishwasher.
