• Yes, you can cook a chuck roast using the Roast function. The DG551’s Smoke Control System helps reduce smoke, but it doesn’t eliminate it completely some smoke is normal, so good ventilation is recommended.

• Luckily, I am able to sit this on my stove top and use my upper oven exhaust fan while I cook with it. Since I don't clean the round grease filter after each use like it suggests, the time I did have a little build up and forgot the exhaust fan, it set off the Smoke Alarm! lol

• We have not yet tried a roast, but the cheat we do is set it on our stovetop and turn on the upper exhaust fan. Especially if we have not cleaned the upper round metal grease filter! The time we forgot it set off the Smoke Alarm and scared me!!! hahahaa
