Just twist the whole thing counter-clockwise. Really easy yo use.

Just hold the handle and rotate the blender

Good day Donna, Thank you for your question. The Ninja Professional Blender 1000 model # BL610 does not come with any additional mechanism. Simply twist the pitcher to the right to dislodge. The base of the unit also comes with 4 mini non-slip bottoms that helps to keep the blender in place while in use. To release the suction simply lift anyone. Hope this helps.
