The gift card only works different Nintendo eShop related items only on Nintendo eShop and I think for the Wii u and 3DS. The different numbers mean how much money you can use in the eshop. If you pay $100 for the $100 Nintendo gift card then that's is how much you get in the Nintendo eshop. If you don't know what the eShop is.
