On T-Mobil prepaid plan l just take out micro sim from my very old phone, copy to nano sim in t-mobile store for $10.00,and was ready to use on old plan.

This device can be used with any provider that supports the following bands: GSM: 850/900/1800/1900 WCDMA: Band 1, 2, 4, 5, 8 LTE: Band 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 12, 17, 28, 38 If you choose another provider that does support those bands then yes, you could just replace the SIM.
