Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Has to be plugged in. Note that the S15i that I purchased does not have a power switch and instructions were to unplug it when not in use. Does have survivable internal memory so it does remember your iFIT accounts when powering it back on. A recent update does put it to sleep now after a period of inactivity but I still have mine connected to a dedicated power strip so I can turn it on and off. Noted that even in sleep mode, the lcd screen backlighting is on and thus why I continue to follow the original instructions and remove power when not in use. Really wish the manufacturer would have put a simple thing like a power switch on the appliance but unfortunately the only way to power it down is to physically disconnect the power either through an external switch or unplugging it.
