“Is it really worth it to spend $1099 for the Asus version of this card? I mean I guess it's factory overclocked and has better cooling but if you slap a water cooling block on it then it's essentially the same thing but almost half the price. Right?”

Don't buy it unless you plan to overclock, if you don't want to overclock you're basically paying for overkill cooling you don't need and just the way it looks.
