The way SLI is designed you can only pair two matching GPUs (the chip inside has to be the same model number, even if not the exact same manufacturer on the outside). You can only pair two 2080TIs OR two 3090s, not mix and match. This has always been the case with NVIDIA SLI based on my research, only AMD Crossfire has some multi-GPU support. However, you CAN install both cards in the same system, and run them both assuming you can handle the power demands. This would allow you to run some of your monitors or other components on one GPU (VR, projector case, etc) and other video components on your other GPU to provide more multi-tasking and reduce load on the primary card. They just would not be able to focus their power on the same application unless that application has very specific support for such things (extremely unlikely).
