• Hello There is a button on the top or bottom on the back. You push it and hold it and slide it down. It is not easy. That part should be redesigned

• Yes it does have batteries. The rear cover of the remote is removed by pushing down on the indented arrow on the rear of the remote. Once removed, you will find two AAA batteries which can be replaced.
