Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes. The 10tb sounds like a larger HD with an external power supply. That is a safest way to do it. You can plug in a USB portable drive as long as it has it's own power supply. I wouldn't use a portable one that is only powered by the USB port only because it might pull too much power from the USB port on the NVidia Shield. The power supply for the NVidia shield is 2.1Amps which does not leave enough for a portable hard drive which can draw anywhere from 500ma to 1 amp depending on the model. I wouldn't chance it. Can the USB port power a portable hard drive without external power???... yes, but you take the chance if long term usage results in it destroying the USB port or the shield itself, especially from start up current draw hard drives demand.
