The NVidia shield will upscale all input to the output resolution it is set at. The aspect ratio will remain the same. It can not and will NOT change aspect ratio of the movie from 1.33:1 to 16:9. That is the aspect ration the movie/series was shot in and the only thing you can do is change the video size mode (STRETCH OR ZOOM) on your tv to get rid of those bars whenever you have 1.33 aspect ratio. The wide stretch option will make people's faces look wide and the stretch the picture. The second option is the zoom but you will lose top and bottom portions of the movies/series.
