The camera battery lasts about 300 or so photos, Videos much faster obviously. It does charge quickly, but I guess that doesn't really matter if you have no electricity. YOu can buy extra batteries, but they are not cheap. The camera takes amazing photos though to make up for the small battery life. You can maybe get a couple portable charger like they have for phones and hook it up via USB to charge it.
