Will this work with adapter alone. null

Not sure. I think the batteries are needed for memory. I never use the adapter on mine. I only use the batteries

I set it up just using the adapter. I added the batteries after setting it up. I assumed if I removed the adapter without the batteries I would have to set it up again.
