I believe you can get away with it. I have a 120" screen in my bedroom and my HD143X is placed at the half way point of room about 12 feet, that is the maximum footage that I can go in order to get a full screen shot, it's perfect. And you can still reduce the size of the picture in the settings menu. You can move it up to 4 feet and adjust the size of your picture by shrinking it to fit your screen or enlarge it.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I am not sure if you can get 80-90 inches from 4 feet away. This should provide you with a good estimate of distance. Whatever distance it provides, that is the base minimum: https://www.optoma.com/us/calculator/ The fan is not that loud, its even quieter in eco mode. I have a 5.1 surround, so its barely noticeable.

Please try again later.no that will not work. this Optoma projector is a standard throw model, to get a 90" screen you need to be about 10 feet back. what you need is a short projector (which normally cost a little more) or even ultra short throw. the Optoma GT1080darbee (which is short throw 1080P native) will get one a 90" screen from 3 ft. 3" according to projector central calculator: https://www.projectorcentral.com/Optoma-GT1080Darbee-projection-calculator-pro.htm this site is great for doing quick checks on screen size desired and distance the projector will be sitting or mounted at: as for your loudness question. HD143x is rated at 25/27 dB in eco and active modes. that is considered relatively quite. I have an Optoma HD50 (older model) that is rated at 27dB and it is right over my sitting position mounted in the ceiling, I can only hear it when the sound it completely muted, else audio from the TV and certainly any sound bar or surround systems will easily overcome any fan noise.
