I don't have a means to check the temperature, and I have never touched it. I believe it needs to be 2" -6" off of the wall, but I don't remember for sure. We just pull ours forward a little when using. Without physically checking, I believe that portions of the exterior would get hot enough to burn you if touched, and that is why there is a statement about not setting on wood, and having clearances etc

Please try again later.It doesn’t get that hot on the outside, the only thing you have to be sure of is it has to have at least 6 inches of space above it for heat to rise; so if you have cabinets above where it would sit, they have to be at least 6 inches higher than the top of the oven.
