That is correct. They each use a different size case

The camera bezel on the 13 is slightly larger than the bezel on the 12. The way I understand it, a case made for the 13 fits the 12, but a case exclusively for the 12 will not fit the 13.

It is the same brand and style of case not the exact same case. Best Buy found the right one for me and even put it on.
