I’m not an expert but could be due to the fact otterbox make a “pro” line and regular defender case. The “pro” line has something like silver infused in it to help kill germs. That or one may have a screen protector installed on the case where as the newest models do not have screen protection and more

The picture here says "Purple", (my phone and OtterBox happen to be Black. (The nice lady with the pretty smile in the store seemed kinda knowledgeable)

Please try again later.I Inquired about the items few weks ago since i was also out to buy an otter box with screen protectant and after a lot of research i found out that they have different texture and same color and no longer make the otter box with screen protectant.some have two casing materials and some have three for extra protection but none of them have front screen protection.so i bought the screen protection separate with that for extra protection.
