Whilst utilizing the app itself will not impact battery life, it is when you activate certain features from within the app that will impact the battery, so for example when you turn on workout heart rate, it will constantly monitor your heart rate until the feature is turned off, this constant monitoring of the heart rate will deplete the battery faster, similarly blood oxygen sensing if enabled will utilize more sensors from the ring causing the battery to last much shorter between charges.
