I have power from the hood that’s being removed. Can the installer use that power for the new microwave? The power is just a standard 3 lead power cable. I would prefer not to have to wire a outlet box just to plug the microwave in.

Yes code everywhere in the US requires a dedicated outlet for microwaves.

yes .it uses a standard 3 prong 110v outlet

You will most likely need to check with Best Buy. Unless they have a direct way to plug this in, I do not expect they will install it for you. The gentlemen who installed us were not licensed electricians and we were told you need to have an outlet available. Good Luck.
