I'm not sure why the previous answer was given. You ask if it's possible. The fast answer is YES it is! DETAILS: 1) So far, to toast it works best with the BROILER function. The biggest trade-off is IF you want anything past "light golden brown" you run the risk of drying out a regular sliced piece of store bread, especially after you flip it turning it into a very large "cracker". My work around takes some experimenting. Toast one side first. Remove the bread slices from the "air fryer basket" -- this way you can toast four to six slices at a time which makes the fuss work worthwhile and a real time saver, especially if you have kids!! LIGHTLY butter or spread margarine on the UNTOASTED SIDE, pop it back into the oven, and watch carefully to prevent a possible burning of the toast. Once you have discovered what works best for you (the times) -- you're gold!! The broiler is either on or off, so the only possible adjustment is the time it takes. Experimentation is best. 2) THICKER slices are infinitely better!! Think "Texas Toast" or for the kids, two slices of toast in one. The above works very well to have toasted top and bottom with a soft hot center. BTW -- THIS works fantastically well if you want some fast FRENCH TOAST!!! And one other suggestion along that line Jen -- IF you can locate a yellow EGG BREAD called "Challah" an eastern European Jewish discovery and specialty -- get an unsliced loaf, cut one inch thick slices NOT overlooking the ends! Follow what I've suggested here soaking the slices in your raw egg mix of course! Oh, make sure that the raw eggs "drain" from the slices or some will drip through the mesh basket onto the enameled pan. Not to worry! It comes off easily even after four rounds of six slices each! INCREDIBLE!! 3) DON'T be afraid to experiment!! If you watch the machine while you experiment you are not likely to spoil any food even if you don't care for the results. I've got a teething grandchild that's absolutely NUTZ over the cooled French Toasted challah. It has to be his FAVORITE breakfast food, and no doubt he'd vanish it for lunch and dinner if we made it!
