• No, timer is NOT independent in model SU686S! If microwave is in use, you can't use the timer and vice versa. You can use the timer only when microwave is not in use.... it is very upsetting. My old microwave had completely independent timer, while setting a timer for e.g. baking for 40 min, I was still able to use the microwave for cooking .... not anymore!
