The answer provided by the Panasonic team is false. The speakers are separate from the radio unit and their wires are attached to compression terminals. So, yes, you can detach the included speakers and replace them with what you want. Caveat: the impedance of the included speakers isn't specified, and I would recommend that you use 8-Ohm speakers unless you determine the amplifier is capable of driving 4-Ohm loads.
