“I have a Panasonic surround sound system that came with a blue ray player I bought 10 years ago. Would this be compatible to just replace the old DVD player and have the existing surround sound attached to this new player?”

• As long as you have an HDMI or optical input to your surround system. The HDMI has to go to your TV then. optical out to surround amp. Or if your surround sound amp has a master HDMI out to TV but older amp/ receivers do not have 4k or good HD out. Check all your I/O

• Hi Joe! Probably it will not work as the system is quite old. You can try to see if the speakers can connect to it and if they have the same connections, but probably no, it will not work. -A
