• Hello and thank you for your question! The player will work with a TV if you use a High Speed HDMI cable for the connection and your TV has a HDMI In port. The Blu-ray player can play DVDs and Blu-ray discs of Region A/Region 1 and discs that are marked as "All" meaning that they are not region coded. It will not play discs that are coded for another Region, like Japan. We hope this information is useful! - S

• It does work on Blu-ray discs from Japan; the region lock is there, and it won’t play DVDs from Japan, but Japan and the US are both Region A for Blu-rays.
