The back plate or wall mount bracket should be screwed into a stud if possible. In my case I only had one stud in the wall so one side could be attached to the stud but the other side could not. Lowes sells drywall mounting hardware that will hold up to 300 lbs. I bought them and used them for the other side and was very pleased with the integrity of the system.
