If I buy this version (standard) for PS5 and a buddy has standard version on PS4 will we be able to play multiplayer? Or do we have to get the cross-gen version which is more expensive ? Thanks. null

Yes you can play with your friend to my knowledge. The cross-gen version I think is more for people who buy on ps4, but anticipate getting a ps5 and want to be able to transfer the game to the new system.

Yes, Crossplay is enabled across PS4 and PS5 platforms allowing you to play private games or online matchmaking.

You both have to have the same machine or it won't work.

I do know they do not cross platform, but since it is cross generation with the same console family, you should be able to. I haven't tried it myself, so please don't hold me to it.
