Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.You will need the hub in order to change colors on the lights. The light will work without the hub, as a standard light. The hub is def worth the money. I have more control over the lights by having the hub.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.The Phillips Hue bulbs only work with the Phillips Hue Hub. These light bulbs do not use Wifi, but use the ZigBee communication standard instead. The Phillips Hue Hub connects to your home network, then the light bulbs connect to the Phillips Hue Hub. The Phillips Hue Hub can connect up to 50 Hue lights or accessories. I was originally skeptical about using the Hub, but now I am happy to have it, because it keeps all my lights from slowing down my Wifi network. Also, security is better with the Hub because the Phillips lights are not directly connected to the Internet.
