QuestionHi. I already have a Google Hub and just ordered this bulb. Do I need to buy the hue hub Bridge also or I can connect this bulb with my Google Hub and control the light with it?

- Answer You have to have the philips hue bridge while purchasing any philips hue product. The only instance in which you do not have to have the bridge is with the Amazon Echo Plus / Show second gen. They have it built in. If you don’t want to have to use a bridge, you will have to purchase C by GE lightbulbs!

QuestionI have two sons, each with their own Amazon Echo and with their bedrooms are right next to each other. I want each son to be able to control these lights in their own bedrooms from their own Alexa. I’m confused on how to do that with the hub.

- Answer You can set up each bedroom with a name. Like “ Kevin’s room”. Then say “ Alexa turn on Kevin’s room lights”.

QuestionIhave a steam shower want to change out the ugly LED white recessed can lights with my new HUE (color) system. 1) can i put color bulbs in the steam room itself ? 2) otherwise can i put bulbs outside steamroom over sinks gets SOME residual dampness

- Answer I have the Hue GU10 colors in my vanity, and a Hue A19 color in my ceiling fixture near the bathtub/shower and have not had a problem. (My smoke alarm has gone off a couple times due to the steam, but the Hue has held strong. Never blinked shorted or changed colors on it's own.) I really like that I can set the vanity to teals and the over head to a rich blue and have a relaxing start to my day.[I also have a friend that has the strips over his shower!!]

- Answer The difference is the size of the piece that screws into the socket. One is standard and the other is candelabra. Both need a bridge or other smart item to control it.

- Answer I've been able to add additional Hue bulbs to my Hub via the Hue app for Android. I imagine iOS/Apple products are similar. Put the new Hue bulb in the socket, turn the light on (manually). In the Hue app for Android, there is a gear icon in the upper-left corner of the main screen. This brings up a menu where I see an option "Light setup". Click that, and you should see a Plus (+) button in the lower-right corner. Again, click the button and you should now be on the "Add lights" page. Finally, click "Search" to begin finding the new lights. Not sure if there's a faster way to get to the above section but I hope this helps.

- Answer I have both in my home. Lifx makes a 1100 lumen bulb which is brighter then hue’s 850 but the app needs work. The philips hue has a awesome app and accessories. For me Philips hue works faster with Siri, Alexa and google mini. Currently I use mainly Alexa and own 19 bulbs from Hue and 4 from Lifx.

- Answer Hi Tina, Unfortunately it appears that you will need a Phillips TV that has ambilight capabilities as well as the Ambilight+Hue app on your iOS/android device to accomplish what you are trying to do. Furthermore, if this bulb is your first Hue light, you will need to purchase the Hue Bridge to be able to control the light in any manner.

- Answer I am not sure others are answering your question in the way you are really looking for? For example, are you asking for the reason of putting this in a lamp and not wanting to go over the max wattage? If you look at the specs, it states that this has a "Bulb Wattage" of only 10 watts because it's LED, however it also states that it has an "Incandescent Wattage Equivalent" of 60 watts. So it's apparently drawing only 10 watts of energy, but has an equivalent brightness of a traditional 60 watt bulb. Therefore, your answer would be only 10 watts.

- Answer Absolutely! It can be controlled by either the "Hue" App or via Apple's HomeKit for sure. I believe it's also compatible with Alexa and Home.

- Answer Not according to their website but they will work if they are protected and within range of the router. Personally, I wouldn't because they will degrade faster. I would pick a cheaper bulb maybe even a Bluetooth one for that purpose.

- Answer This will depend on what your expectations and requirements are. You will need at least one piece of hardware -- the Hue hub which you can buy as part of a starter kit. Regardless, the Hub does not help with motion detection. If you want the bulb to turn on when someone enters a particular room, then yes, you'll need a motion detector and most likely an advanced home automation hub like SmartThings. This bulb does not come with any motion detecting capabilities built in. The Hub does not come with any motion detecting capabilities either as far as I'm aware. If you just want the bulb to turn on at a certain time of the day (say 6:30 AM), you can program a Routine in the Hue app to turn the bulb on without any additional hardware. If you just want to control the bulb via an app, again, you can use the Hue app to turn the bulb on without any additional hardware.
