I have both in my home. Lifx makes a 1100 lumen bulb which is brighter then hue’s 850 but the app needs work. The philips hue has a awesome app and accessories. For me Philips hue works faster with Siri, Alexa and google mini. Currently I use mainly Alexa and own 19 bulbs from Hue and 4 from Lifx.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I love the hue lights. Yes they are expensive but I buy them when they are on sale and I since they require the hub I think they are more reliable than lifx which I also own. Lifx go off line too often. I never have that issue with hue.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The only reason I went with the Hue bulbs is because I have a lot of WiFi devices already on my network. The Hue bulbs are zigbee. I just didn’t want more WiFi devices causing more “noise” on my network.

When I started to use HomeKit in my house, I looked for the least expensive items in each class. After a short time, I ended up with too many apps to control things. Of course Siri and Homekit do bring them together into one interface, but the apps still have to be there. Subsequently, I culled the apps down to a few, and for my lighting I use Philips Hue. It works very well and there are accessories that really pull it all together. Having the same hub/app controlling the bulbs and communicating with the accessories (switches, dimmers and motion sensors.) makes the interactions quick and reliable. I do strongly suggest that you watch for sales, that way, even though it may take longer, you can reduce the costs.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yeah, I'm interested in cheaper bulbs but the Phillips Hue app is so easy to use. My wife and kids can control the lights without asking me for help. We can set timers for the lights and the Hue Party app is really neat. I bought my bulbs at Best Buy's Black Friday deals so I was happy with the price I paid.
