A:AnswerFor all Hue lights, you’ll need the bridge, which connects to your modem. If you’re only looking for one bulb, I’d recommend LIFX. Their products don’t require a hub, each has a direct WiFi connection to your network and you can add it and control it with the LIFX app.
A:AnswerYes. They work very well with the Amazon Echo. The key is to assign them to a room and then name the bulb in the room. For instance I have my bulb in my office at my desk. So I created a room named "Office" and named the bulb "Desk" in the Amazon Alexa app. The command is "Alexa - Turn on the Desk" and the light comes on. Or "Alexa - Dim the Desk" and the light dims. If you want it to dim more then repeat the command. Changing colors is the same command. "Alexa turn the Desk green". And it turns the light green. I am trying to remember how to set the color of the bulb using the scenes that are available for the Phillips Hue colored bulbs. I got it to work once before but forgot how.
A:AnswerThese are actually 3rd generation with color and white ambiance. They can generate just about every color now whereas the 2nd gens had issues with blues, greens, and purples.
A:AnswerLight switch needs to be ON -even when you use the hue app with the light switch in the OFF position, the hue app will tell you that the light bulb is unresponsive!
A:AnswerNo. It is clearly stating on the package that they are not to be used in an enclosed fixture.
Philips stated this because the trapped heat will decrease durability of the bulb.
People say LED don't generate much heat, that is true BUT the base wich holds the electronics does generate heat and that heat when trapped will decrease the durability of the bulb and also void the warranty. So basically you buy LED for durability, don't do something that will negate it.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!
A:AnswerInternet access through an internet service provider is not required, though a home network of some kind is required. ... The Hue bridge then relays the lighting control to the lightbulbs over their own proprietary wireless network that does not rely on your normal home wifi.
