“I have several lights that turn on from the same switch. BUT I only want one Smart light in a precise location. Does the light switch need to be "ON" for the light to operate? Can I have all other lights turned off and use only the HUE?”

Light switch needs to be ON -even when you use the hue app with the light switch in the OFF position,the hue app will tell you that the light bulb is unresponsive!

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.If I'm reading this correctly, the switch will need to be on. If your other lights are lamps, just switch them off by the switch that's on them. Then you can control your hue. Or, put a hue in each light and you can control them all. Also, I recommend you get the mobile app called IFTTT. It's has applets inside that can do pretty cool things with hue and a number of other things. Good luck.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have them on a lamp that holds five different light bulbs. However, you can program the routine to turn one, two, or all of them at the same time. You have to keep the wall switch on all the time for them to work.
