• You need the hub. There may be some other compatible hubs out there, but we have been using the hub (1st floor) with all of our lights (2nd floor) without any issues. It's pretty easy to hide it out of the way.

• In order to use any Hue bulbs as intended you need to have the hub. If you just want to use it as an expensive white LED bulb, you are able to put it into a socket and use it as such without the hub.

• Hub is required to run these bulbs. Or at least the color changing features. Without a hub it is an over priced white light bulb.

• Yes you do need the hub to make these work. It allows all the lights to work through wifi
