Yes. I just lost our internet this morning and the lights worked. When I left it then told me the lights were not available. That's a great question.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This will check the internet for updates, and will force you to download updates if there are any; though I would imagine any data transferred is minimal. I would recommend getting a router that lets you block specific devices from accessing the internet (sometimes as a part of parental controls) if you have bandwidth restrictions. To control the Hub from away from home requires additional setup.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Hue system typically uses ONLY your home network. My router reports data use for all my connected devices, and none of my hubs or devices show any network use at all.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Your only option for getting this to work is you need a smartphone to run the lights by downloading an app. However I was told by someone else you can download a switch online for the bridge that lets you turn it on/off and change colors manually with a remote instead. You won't need any internet with that I assume.
