“Can I connect 3rd party strip lights ie from amazon or do I have to use the phillips hue strip lights?”

• Must use the hue light strip to work with the hue hub.

• If you already bought this, you would need another hub to use the other led lights. Why would you do that when you can just buy philips led strips.
