• The only way I have been able to achieve what I believe you are trying to do is by adding an Apple Airport Express ($99). Extend your wifi through the airport express and use an Ethernet cable from the airport express to the hue bridge and it will work fine. I've used this with a Verizon mifi unit and it works just fine.

• Yes it uses wifi. You need to have the Hue hub which will connect to your router via wire. All Hue devices connect to the hub which can manage up to 50 devices. Very easy setup, just be sure to get the hub.
