You can only use this outdoors if you have existing light sockets available there and a wifi network that reaches to wherever that socket is. If you want something specifically for outdoors and don't have the sockets available, check out the Hue Go. It's a wireless light that needs no power outlet or socket but it does still require your wifi network to reach to wherever you put it.
