You can only use this outdoors if you have existing light sockets available there and a wifi network that reaches to wherever that socket is. If you want something specifically for outdoors and don't have the sockets available, check out the Hue Go. It's a wireless light that needs no power outlet or socket but it does still require your wifi network to reach to wherever you put it.

I used them for the front porch light in enclosed housing, would not recommend exposed on the outside without housing.

Officially no, but there's a lot of stories online about people using them outside, even in northern climates. I've got 4 outside right now and they're handling the 90-100F summer heat ok, we'll see what happens in the winter.
