Absolutely! I wasn't sold on the color changing bulbs, I just wanted networked and centrally controlled lighting. I took the plunge with the starter kit with only white bulbs (lux) and a single Hue bulb. The only real downside is just the app is somewhat hard to use if you define light groups that contain both hue and lux bulbs, but other than that its pretty seamless!

They cannot shift light temperature but work great for standard bulbs at a fraction of the cost of the color changing ones
