It all depends how you set it up. I have one in many closets and rooms, and they control just the hue lights in those rooms. But during Christmas time, since I wrap my banisters with lights connected to a smart plug, I have my living room motion detector and my basement motion detector trigger both trigger the Christmas lights. And then the living room also controls the living room lights and the basement controls the basement lights - though I could control multiple rooms with just one as well.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The motion sensor is wireless and you can place it anywhere you want (as long as it can detect motion). You can control multiple devices connected to the same Hue Bridge. I do not know if there is a max number of devices. I use my sensor for the hallway for when I get up at night. I even have it set to 2 of the 3 bulbs in the light fixture and have them dimmed so it isn’t as glaring in the middle of the night. Oh, almost forgot. You can even set up zones and attach the zone to the motion sensor instead of an entire room. So your options are flexible.
