“What's best way to setup the sync box? I have apple TV Samsung 8 series tv and a Samsung sound bar? I've tried a few different ways but most of the time sync box unsyncs and turns off the soundbar”

Are you running the soundbar through the sync box? I would recommend going to apple tv to sync box and sync box to the tv. Then connect the soundbar to the tv via HDMI or optical cable.
