can the speaker be removed from the monitor? null

It can but it needs to be done carefully, however if you don't have a lot of knowledge in this area, I recommend leaving it attached. I use the monitor on a wall mount & the sound is really nice & high quality. It does add about 3" of overall height. but well worth leaving in, I also have a 5.1 surround system but now prefer using the attached soundbar when gaming.
