The motor in this device have lesser power than what's found in head trimmers but to answer your question, yes it can cut head hair but you have to use it very slowly and carefully because the metal trimmer this device is equipped with is smaller and the teeth spacing is too small it more than likely will tangle with your hair causing the motor to break especially if you have a lobhvand thick hair strand. I learned that from my own experience. I was using the Conair brand though when that happened. Phillips Norelco appears to have sturdier built than Conair. The best way to find out is to give it try and tell us your findings.
