• No, the handle doesn't come off. The handle is connected to a small wire basket that sits into a larger compartment and you take both out of the fryer. You can press a button on the top of the handle which releases the basket from the larger compartment.

• The handle you see in the picture is attached to the actual basket which is inside the black container, which you see the front of.
