To best assist with this, I would recommend unplugging the unit for 30 seconds to reset this unit and then holding down on the lightning bolt for 5-7 seconds! Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Had same issues the button is really tricky. I prefer auto mode but if you are having issues after holding that button and it doesn’t flash you may have a defective unit

Owners Manual says Touch and Hold Top Button for 3 Seconds to switch between automatic and manual disinfection modes. Once in Manual Disinfection Touch button to start/stop sanitizing.
