AM and FM transmission and reception are good where I live in Denver. Your receiver should perform well, so experiment with antenna placements for fun radio reception. Also in my opinion Pioneer is a quality product and should give you years of performance. My other household audio systems are Denon and Marantz, and I chose the Pioneer receiver for a specialized open reel tape system. Hope this helps. Brian in Denver
